Rotary Airlock Valve / Pocket Feeder

A Rotary Airlock Valve (RAV), also known as a rotary feeder or airlock, is used to control the flow of dry, free-flowing bulk materials such as powders, granules and pellets in pneumatic conveying systems. It enables consistent and controlled material transfer while maintaining pressure separation between process stages.

The valve minimizes air leakage and dust emissions through a rotating multi-blade rotor housed within a precision-engineered casing, allowing reliable feeding from bins, hoppers, silos or cyclones to downstream equipment.

Function

Regulates bulk solid flow by creating an effective airlock between chambers, preventing air leakage while transferring material.

Key Components

Multi-blade rotating rotor, housing with inlet and outlet flanges, bearings, seals and motor drive mechanism.

Applications

Pneumatic conveying systems, dust collection, powder handling, hopper discharge, cyclone outlets and material feeding applications.

Benefits

  • Precise and uniform material metering
  • Effective dust and air leakage control
  • Suitable for a wide range of bulk materials
  • Easy maintenance and reliable operation

Pocket Feeders operate using a rotor mechanism similar to a rotary airlock valve to evenly distribute feed into hammer mills. The segmented rotor with staggered pockets improves feed distribution and enhances operational efficiency.
